A blustery day

It is a very blustery day. I wish it was Wednesday so I could say, "Happy Windnesday Piglet" but, alas, it is Thursday. We are actually under a high wind warning, and oh how the wind is blowing today. I haven't seen wind like this since our hurricane days in Texas.

As I was getting ready this gray morning, listening to the wind howling, this scripture came to mind...

"And now my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."
                                                        3rd Nephi 5:12

Surely the devil is sending forth his mighty storms, his hail, and his piercing shafts with ever greater intensity. His attacks are both direct and subtle, each brutal in their own way. I have been shocked at the tactics and uproar as of late. How can we build our foundation on the Savior? How can we stand firm in this increasing hurricane of doubt, temptation, sin and distraction?

I have pondered this a great deal. And my answer has come, not in the wind, not in the earthquake, not in the storm, not in the great and spacious building, but through the quiet whisperings of simple Primary song.

"Follow the prophet, follow the prophet, follow the prophet - he knows the way."

How do we build a firm foundation upon the rock of our Redeemer? By following and trusting His chosen and appointed representative on the earth today, President Thomas S. Monson.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord by following His prophet.
